Why Is My New Corgi Puppy Twitching in His Sleep?

I just got a brand new Corgi puppy today, and he’s been sleeping a lot. Sometimes in his sleep, he’ll twitch his paw or sometimes even his whole body. I had a dog who died of epilepsy, and twitching makes me very worried. Should I be concerned?

Little twitches in his sleep are normal, my dog will twitch in his sleep sometimes. Unless the pup starts to violently convulse or choke, you shouldn’t worry.

when dogs do that, it means they’re dreaming that they’re running. dont worry, its normal

Probably not – dogs dream in their sleep and probably about chasing things. People twitch in their sleep, too. But if you are worried, a trip to the vet never hurts.

dont worry about it, dogs do that. its like theyre having a bad dream. its common with ALL dogs that i have seen. Mine do it too :) if it bugs you just shake them lightly and call their name. they will stir and usually go back to sleep, but there is nothing wrong with them at all.

He’s dreaming. All dogs do it, some more than others, and often they’ll do more of it after a particularly exciting day. The twitching is what happens when they’re running in their dreams, and many dogs bark and growl in their sleep too. Some wag their tails.
