When Is the Best Day to Breed a Female Pembroke Welsh Corgi?

I have the papers to breed, dont worry, but when is the (best) day to breed?? I have a female pembroke welsh corgi (just got her 3 years ago) and i want to breed her like i did to my last corgi (ginger) and i have a male and everything. So today she just started bleeding today, again. So how many days do i wait until its the best day to breed her?? Its been a long time since i bred a corgi.

Sorry Dot, but Sundays are very bad for breeding Corgis, maybe even worse than Tuesdays. The best day is ALWAYS, either June 31st, or the 5th Monday in February, but only when immediately following a Jewish Holiday. However, since this very special Corgi has papers, you can also add the first snowy Friday in August

First of all…are you a legit breeder? If not, then don’t bother. Will your puppies be worth anything? Are the parents titled? Do you already have homes for possible puppies? Are you aware of the possible expenses and risks? If you are definitely sure that you aren’t simply adding to the overpopulation already occuring in the US, then dogs are usually bred within the 9th and 13th day. I am not completely sure why, but it has something to do with the ovulation.

The day after she earns her titles, has all health scores, and your breed mentor agrees it’s time.

The best day to breed her is after she finishes her conformation title, acquires at least a Herding Started title. has all of her health clearances and the day after you have learned all you can from a reputable mentor about the breed genetics, structure and movement.

The answer to when —- is

when she has had all her breed health checks, and when she has confirmed herself as an outstanding example of the breed, and when you have studied the genetics enough to know that her and your male are compatible and will not produce faults which can have detrimental health affects, and also when you have enough homes waiting for your superb examples that you will be able to sell all the puppies.

Oh and of course when you have enough money put aside in case any emergency arises.

Please be sure she’s screened and has all of her health clearences before breeding! (OFA, BAER, CERF). Titled and Worked!

She should be in heat for about 3 weeks some a little longer some shorter. You want to breed her about the 10th day or after that she wont usually let the male near her for the first week then after that she will but give it a couple days after as if they lock up on the first few days there will be a chance of only 1 or 2 puppies. Which can lead to a Cesarean.

    What heat cycle is this?
To be healthy enough she needs to be two and at least her second heat cycle.

Also make sure that the male is close to her size, you don’t want him to be over 3 pounds bigger than her as this can lead to the puppies being too big. A bigger dog.. there can be more of a gap in weight.

The pet usually won’t breed with any male dog until the 10th day of her season and thereon for at least 3 1/2 weeks.so keep the pet confined so no other males can get to her.

You have no business breeding, my dear.

Papers mean nothing. If she is AKC championed and had all of her structural and genetic testing completed, ask your breed mentor.

    No championship, no mentor, SPAY!

Some people breed them on their 7th-8th day but it’s best to wait until her blood starts to turn a light red & when she starts flagging her tail. Let them tie about 3-4 times Just to make sure

IMO, if you don’t know, then you shouldn’t be breeding her.

Don’t do it! She is a little too old for a first litter and Corgis are notorious for problem pregnancies. You will be putting her health at risk.

I volunteer with Corgi Rescue and we are knee deep in Corgis right now. Please don’t add to the overpopulation.
