Alright, so I’ve been looking at Corgi’s, Basset Hounds, and Dachshunds. I go to school from 8AM-4PM.
If I left the dog kennel open in my room, toys, food, and water, would it be fine?
AND, if it’s already potty trained. It won’t go inside, even though it’s not that long right?
I know people who have left there dogs home for over 12 hours.
AND, if I do get a dog it’ll be 1-4 years old.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

You do know that this is not ideal, but lets face it a lot of the population with dogs have to work and have to go to school, and if people that went to work and school werent allowed dogs, tehn thousnads of dogs would be in shelters right now!
Your dog will be much happier at home than in a shelter, although you should hire someone to come in to your house and feed and walk your dog and make sure she is let out a few times while you are away for the toilet, otherwise you will just have to put up with the accidents she has!
try to get her worn out in the mornings, take her to an open field for a long run, so she will be likely to sleep a lot of the day,
you could also send her to a local dog day care centre 1 or two times a week, so shes not so bored
good luck

Do you get a toilet break at school/work
try doing without it for a few days, no toilet breaks except when you are home and think about it
If you do you will need to accept accidents without complaining and clear them up as it will not be the dogs fault
I would say 5 hours is tops but it is personal opinion

the longest a puppy can hold it for is their age in months +1 (this only applies to puppy under 1 year old. My bichon can hold it for well over 8 hours, though I don’t like to make him. So it should be alright assuming it is already house trained.

I wudn’t recommend you do this unless you try see if theres a doggy day care in your area its around about $20 for a wholeday and your pup would be very happy he/she would get to socialise with other dogs and trained aswelll the dog would be more contented..
