How Do I Stop My Pembroke Corgi From Being Aggressive?

My corgi has started being aggressive with people without being provoked. Hes started snarling and growling and biting when people and myself reach down to pet him. He is about a year and a half old. He has not been neutered yet. I’m scheduling that to happen in the hopes that this will cut down on some of the behaviors. He has been a very polite dog and a joy to have around until recently. Please help!!

Time to invest in an animal behaviorlist. This is not common behavior for a corgi. Please neuter him and get him some one-on-one training.

Likely fear biting. Any chance he is being mistreated or intimidated by someone without your knowledge? I strongly recommend you don’t stand over him and reach down to pet him. Start by sitting on the floor and letting him come to you, and don’t reach out, just touch him as he touches you. Get a friend or two to do this same thing. I had a rescued GSD who was very nervous of men, and fear biting is the most common biting. This floor-level interaction worked really well. Also, take your dog to a dog park, dog day care, or other social situations on a regular basis where lots of interaction will take place to alleviate any anxiety he might be having about contact. Hope this helps. Corgis are wonderful dogs… like German Shepherd Dogs with really short legs.

sparying will help. What you need to do in this case.

when the dog grows or trys to bite/nip someone make that person ignore the dog… dont let that person say something.

Make the dog lay down yell or something or put in keenel or a room for 30 minutes.
