Take your cat to the Vet on a regular basis. If you own multiple cats you will have to buy a separate litter box for each cat. If you have recently relocated your cat may be able to smell the area where the previous tenants cat urinated. Cats need privacy when going to the bathroom.

When you bring a new cat into your house be patient as it may take 3 to 8 weeks for it to adjust to the new home. Your cat will need to have time to adjust to any changes in the family as humans do when there is a change with either an addition to the family with a new baby or if there is a sudden death in the family. When you experience major lifestyle changes in your normal daily routine gradually make the changes in your schedule or you will cause problems for your cat’s routine as well.

Never punish your cat by hitting them screaming at them or chasing them or even rubbing their nose in their own urine will not phase them since the smell does not bother their noses. Cats cannot make the cause and effect connection like we can so punishment after the fact is useless and will only make matters urinated worse.
