It is worth learning what ticks in cats are before learning how to remove them. Ticks are small animals that feed on the blood of their hosts. They attach themselves onto the host by digging their teeth into the skin of the animal.

It takes 3 to 4 days for the tick to fill up on the blood of the cat, after which they lay their eggs.

Removing Ticks on Cats

Removing ticks on cats is a relatively straightforward procedure. It is important you do it correctly to completely remove the tick. You will need tweezers, a small jar of alcohol, disinfectant and surgical gloves.

Find yourself a helper to hold the cat steady. Then, with the tweezers, firmly grasp the tick. Pull sharply and firmly on the tick and place it in the jar of alcohol. Following this you should swab the surrounding area with disinfectant.

Even those who have used gloves should still wash their hands after. It is important to check your cat regularly for ticks. No one wants their cat to pick up a disease.
